Their dance competitions started in January and made it’s way across the United States to regional cities such as Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas and six other cities. Studios qualified in their regional cities are are eligible to compete at the National Finals in Anaheim.
The Hollywood Dance Awards
The Hollywood Dance Awards Gala will feature a three course dinner with and Academy Award style presentation featuring some of the best performances of the week and a live band.
All teacher and student convention fees include the dinner. Guests are available to purchase tickets for the awards show while tickets last.
Icon of the Year competition
The Icon of the Year competition is more than just a dance competition. Held only at the Anaheim convention finals, dancers are chosen based on class participation, solo performance, sportsmanship, and interview. Qualifications to the Icon of the Year began at each of the ten dance competitions and conventions starting in January. The Icon of the Year encompasses all that a dancer has to offer. All dancers participating in the Icon of the Year will learn and perform in a special opening number that is choreographed by Hollywood Connection faculty Mitchel Federan and Kristin McQuaid.
Parent Competition
Hollywood Connection was the first convention to introduce parent competition at the national finals event. It has become a very fun yet competitive event. Parents have a great time on stage and look forward to showing off for their kids. There are no entry fees to encourage participation. The parent competition is a great way for parents to be involved with the event and keeps them busy rehearsing during the day. Each parent routine receives an Award of Excellence Plaque, and one routine will be crowned Parent Competition National Champions!
